Project Pyxis Leadership Invited to United Nations Summit of the Future
This weekend of September 19th to September 22nd, Project Pyxis leaders Kevin Si and Andrew Jin had the distinct honor of attending the Summit of the Future during the United Nations 79th General Assembly week in New York City.
The two-day Summit of the Future event was envisioned to “elevate the voice of youth in the multilateral system” in a gathering of key leaders across the world. Bringing together key industry leaders, NGO representatives, government officials, and senior UN staff to engage in a shared commitment towards Sustainable Development Goals and promoting youth engagement.
As an internationally-minded and community-oriented NGO, Project Pyxis is beyond honored to have been recognized by the organizers of the Summit of the Future for our work. It was a priceless experience for team leaders to network, learn from the world’s best leaders, and critically engage. Leaders Kevin and Andrew attended several notable side-events and Learning Planet Institute events. From raising critical questions at a Friday side event “Activating Young Scientists for Trust in Science” to attending the launch of The Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge.
The Project Pyxis leadership team along with their peers from Learning Planet Institute are confident in the lessons taken away from this conference. It has been, in many of their words, “a once-in-a-lifetime experience” that will lead to waves of international positive impact in the coming months. Project Pyxis looks towards the coming weeks with immense excitement as the process of direct curriculum-to-student implementation begins to take fruition. Our organization extends our profound thanks to KidsforSDGs and Learning Planet Institute leaders Kenneth Kwok, Edward Stevenette, François Taddei, and their numerous peers for organizing the registration process.
